Alexander Daniels Credit Division is excited to be recruiting for a Credit & Collections Supervisor on behalf of our client, a globally recognised, multi-billion-pound iconic brand. Our client, known for their innovation and forward-thinking approach, is based in Nottingham City Centre.

This is a hybrid role - 2 days in the Nottingham office and 3 days working from home.

We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 3 years of credit control experience, preferably with some supervisory background. The successful candidate must be skilled in making informed credit risk decisions by reviewing customer financial statements (e.g., balance sheets). Prior experience in this area is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and manage credit risk, ensuring all customer accounts are updated accurately and promptly.
  • Efficiently release orders to maximise sales while adhering to company credit policies.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the Credit Control team.
  • Set monthly performance targets for the team and individual Credit Controllers; monitor progress and provide assistance as needed.
  • Coach and train team members, conduct regular appraisals, and offer feedback to enhance skills.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of customer ledgers with Credit Controllers to ensure action plans are in place.
  • Gather and analyse relevant customer financial data to assess and set credit limits for new and existing accounts.
  • Oversee the daily monitoring of credit-held orders, working closely with the team and Sales to resolve issues and maximise sales.
  • Monitor aged debt, focusing on the resolution of issues and ensuring timely action on 90+ day debt.
  • Promote credit-related awareness within the company by collaborating with Country Managers and Sales Directors.
  • Resolve customer disputes in collaboration with Customer Services, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Manage seasonal order-book procedures, collaborating with Sales and Customer Services to address potential issues.
  • Ensure accurate allocation of cash, credit notes, and journals.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for the Credit Control team.
  • Provide monthly management reports detailing team performance, target achievement, and action plans.
  • Approve legal action on accounts as recommended by Credit Controllers, coordinating with the legal department as needed.
  • Authorise write-offs up to specified limits, ensuring all paperwork is compliant with SOX requirements.
  • Participate actively in monthly review and Team Leader meetings.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for team members, agree on action plans, and provide coaching when required.
  • Undertake any additional duties relevant to the role.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of credit control or related experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience is a must.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyse balance sheets, P&L, and trends, with a broad understanding of business goals.
  • Language skills: Fluency in English is essential, and knowledge of an additional European language is advantageous.
