The role

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, this role supports the Health & Safety team in the management of ILGs Health & Safety Management System across the business. You will actively promote a positive H&S culture within the business and provide full administration support of policies, procedures, risk assessments and reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintenance of the Accident and Incident Log
- Working closely with the Learning & Development team to book training courses and maintaining training records
- Supporting the provision of first aid and fire protection media and equipment
- Specific site checks and inspections as and when required
- Assisting in the introduction of a H&S software platform
- Supporting the H&S committee

This role will start off as a H&S Assistant with the view to developing to a H&S Advisor in the future.

What we are looking for:

- Candidates who hold (or are working towards) a recognised H&S qualification such as IOSH Managing Safety (desirable)
- Ability to deal with emergency situations and to think in a logical manner under pressure
- Previous experience of working in a high-paced environment
- A methodical approach and ability to prioritise workload
- Administration skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experience of working to a budget (desirable)
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel & Word

This position is based at our Northampton site. You will primarily be covering our Northampton operations but you must be able to travel to all our sites independently (Crawley, Burgess Hill, Horley and East Grinstead) and spend some time working away from home as and when required, therefore own transport is essential.
