ALM - Financial Reporting Manager (Commitee Reporting)

MERJE are partnered with a leading Building Society in their search for a number of professionals to join their Asset & Liabilities Teams on a 12 month FTC basis

About the role

A fixed term opportunity has arisen to join the Asset & Liability Management team in the Balance Sheet Control directorate as a specialist ALM manager under the Hedge Management project within the Governance, Risk and Control programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming reporting to senior leadership committees including the Society's ALCO.

In this role you will be directly responsible for delivering key aspects of the hedge management project, working with colleagues across the ALM team, wider Finance function and trading. You will be expected to review the existing reporting approach, develop a plan and deliver transformation of committee reporting to inform and direct senior colleagues with consideration of the internal and external environment. This role has no line management responsibility but requires significant engagement with others.

As a reporting specialist with a working knowledge of financial risk management and experience of communicating to a senior audience, you'll be joining an established team of permanent and project colleagues with a breadth of experience in the Asset and Liability Management field. This role would ideally suit someone with a strong risk reporting background who is looking to build on that expertise within financial risk management.

In this role you'll build upon your existing skillset to support this specialist area within the Balance Sheet Control directorate. A strong understanding of the balance sheet, corporate structure and data and reporting landscape are key to success in the role. In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture.

About You

You'll need in-depth knowledge of risk management within retail financial services, management information tools and the ability to communicate effectively with a senior audience. This'll be coupled with:

  • A working knowledge of key market, liquidity and capital risk metrics and risk appetite and a broad understanding of margin reporting and finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.
  • Experience of transforming management reporting with control frameworks and automation.
  • Familiarity with the products offered by the business and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.
  • The ability to set an ambitious vision and engage pro-actively with key stakeholders.
  • Past experience of delivering change within tight deadlines and utilising technological solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset
  • Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills – demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements to specialists and non-specialists alike.

While this is a specialist role we are open to discussions with candidates with transferable skills such as a high level of numeracy, pragmatism and the ability to break down complexity for a senior leadership audience.

Applicants must be located and eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
