We are looking for a contract Procurement Professional to join a major international manufacturing client. Based in the Shrewsbury area, this contract will be for 12 months with the distinct possibility of extension.

This role is a junior post within the purchasing team, reporting to the Procurement Manager. The team is made up with four buyers, a project manager and two procurement professionals. It involves some management of a commodity in terms of spend, as well as leading the team in unlaunched requisitions, which is finding suppliers for parts that need ordering. Will also involve working with the buyers in the team in a number of different areas, following up with suppliers, preparation of reports and general supplier management activities.

Responsibilities:-

  • Processes requisitions and provides support for purchasing, supply chain, sourcing, cost, price analyses and contract/purchase order generation.
  • Developing improvement plans to support buyers & professionals related to Response Time, Lean Targets Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, and Management to enable optimal and efficient operations.
  • Performing analysis and maintenance of assigned processes that produce output excellence, builds expertise for the assign process area, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Supporting customers and customer proposal efforts with pricing information and supplier selection.
  • Performing analytical and administrative tasks in support of purchasing strategic initiatives

Education, Skills and Attributes:-

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office package, word, excel, powerpoint.
  • CAT systems will have full training as part of the role.
  • 2 years of Junior procurement experience gained within the manufacturing or engineering industries.
  • Ideally a Degree qualified, in lieu of this we would be looking at more and direct experience.
  • Data Driven decision making procurement experience

This is a 12 month contract with the potential for extension, as the company are looking for someone who overtime can develop into a Category Buyer role for the team. The company are happy to provide a lot of training for this role.

The rate will be c£25.40 per hour with 33 days holiday and pension.

We are looking for applications from contractors in and around Shrewsbury or Stafford, as the client has two office locations in this area, and the role can be based in either. The hours of work are slightly different dependent on site:-

Shrewsbury - 37.5 hours a week Mon to Thur 8:00 - 16:45 and Fri 08:00 - 12:30.

Stafford - 37 hours a week Mon to Thur 8:00 - 16:30 and Fri 08:00 - 13:00.

There is hybrid working available for this role, there is a minimum of 3 days a week at the office.
