Our client is a well-established construction company that specialise in delivering high-quality construction projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and heritage sectors. As our client continues to grow, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Bid Writer to join their team and contribute to their success.

As the sole Bid Writer, you will play a critical role in securing new business opportunities by developing compelling and well-structured bid submissions. You will work independently, while closely collaborating with the Commercial and Pre-Construction Teams, to produce high-quality content that aligns with our client's company's values, standards, and objectives.

The ideal candidate would have a minimum 5 years in a sole Bid Writing position with a medium sized main contractor, who has worked on a range of public sector projects.

The Package:

  • Up to £64,000 basic salary

Bid Writer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage the bid process from inception to submission, ensuring all deadlines are met without the support of a dedicated bid team.
  • Write, edit, and proofread high-quality bid content, including executive summaries, case studies, technical responses, and project methodologies.
  • Conduct thorough research to understand client needs, industry trends, and competitor strategies. Tailor bid content to reflect this understanding and position our client as the preferred contractor.
  • Engage with clients to gather insights and feedback, ensuring that bid submissions address their specific requirements and concerns.
  • Organise and maintain a library of bid documentation, templates, and past submissions. Ensure that all bid-related materials are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
  • Ensure all bid documents are compliant with client specifications, industry standards, and internal quality guidelines. Conduct thorough reviews to identify and rectify any discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the Commercial and Pre-Construction Teams to gather input and expertise for bid submissions.
  • Assist in the creation of presentations for client meetings, interviews, and post-tender negotiations.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of the construction industry, including key sectors such as commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and heritage.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Bid Writing position, ideally with a medium sized main contractor.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Microsoft officer suite - Adobe in-design would be a plus.
