What You'll Be Doing
As Operations Manager, you'll support the Depot Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring service excellence, safety, and efficiency across the board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and monitor the traffic dispatcher team and depot KPIs (Service, Safety, Profitability)
- Supervise daily shift operations and driver performance
- Ensure vehicle availability in collaboration with fleet management
- Manage, train, and develop team members
- Address underperformance and manage absences
- Plan for new work mobilisation and seasonal routing challenges
- Resolve routing and service issues, including customer visits
- Drive cost control and operational efficiency
- Uphold Health & Safety standards and procedures
- Act as Deputy to the Depot Manager when required
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Experience as a Transport Manager or in a similar role within logistics/services
- Strong people and Health & Safety management in a unionised environment
- Proven ability to meet service delivery KPIs and manage costs
- Familiarity with route planning software (e.g., Route Monkey, DPS LogiX)
- Understanding of Lean Management principles
Desirable:
- CPC qualification
- Knowledge of transport legislation and local geography
- Experience in the waste industry and relevant regulation
