Our Newcastle Office is currently recruiting for a Marketing and Business Development Assistant to support our Asia offices. The Role

This role will be dedicated to providing remote support to the Hong Kong MBD team, and will be part of the on-the-ground Newcastle MBD team, with an aim to deliver effective BD and marketing services to the Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai offices. Moreover, this role should work closely with relevant lawyers in Hong Kong (primarily in Litigation and Disputes, Antitrust and Competition and Intellectual Property) to support the continuous growth of the business which is aligned with the firm's strategy and global objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Winning Work:

  • Collaborate with the Hong Kong BD Manager and lawyers to develop high-quality bids, credentials, and client content
  • Manage document development, ensure brand adherence, and convey Greater China positioning
  • Track and follow up on client pitches and ensure content consistency across communications channels

Directories/League Tables/Awards:

  • Draft and manage legal directories, awards, and league table submissions
  • Track and announce ranking results

Publications:

  • Maintain and update Asia marketing materials and publications
  • Coordinate production and distribution of client alerts, newsletters, and other publications
  • Ensure brand compliance in key practice activities

PR and Digital Marketing:

  • Coordinate local press releases, intranet stories, internal newsletters, website, and social media posts with the Hong Kong and Newcastle MBD teams and EMEA PR/Marcomms team

Events:

  • Manage invites, RSVPs, and provide online support for virtual events

Business Planning and Implementation:

  • Support execution of business and campaign plans with the Hong Kong BD Manager
  • Ensure practice, office, and regional objectives are met, including client development, profile raising, marketing, communications, pitching, and virtual event management
  • Assist in managing relevant projects

Client Development:

  • Source and provide relevant client, competitor, industry, and market research for account/client management or targeting initiatives

Skills and Experience Required

  • Undergraduate degree or above (marketing, law or business-related discipline preferred but not essential)
  • Graduate or 1-2 years experience for MBD Assistant applicants / 2-3 years experience for MBD Coordinator/Executive applicants. Experience working in corporate marketing / communications in international law firms / professional services firms / MNCs preferred
  • Robust commercial sense, ability to think and act creatively, flexible mindset, and ability to work collaboratively across a multi-disciplined team in various jurisdictions
  • Attention to detail with a high-level accuracy, and displays the highest professional standards and meets expectations in quality of output
  • Ability to multi-task and able to assimilate information quickly coordinate and keep stakeholders abreast of status
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritise workload and cope with competing deadlines with line manager's guidance
  • A quick learner with a good understanding of when to act and when to ask, and with aspiration to unlock potentials for growth
  • Has a positive, optimistic, resilient, and "can do" attitude
  • Strong interpersonal skills including confidence and open-mindedness, and the ability to build credibility
  • A team player and willing to learn and take on additional responsibilities
  • Flexible approach to working hours and tasks assigned
  • Excellent verbal, written and drafting skills in English; Chinese language proficiency would be an advantage but not a must
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, InterAction, and Zoom
