An experienced Cover Supervisor is needed for a september start in a mixed secondary school in Haringey, North London. As an experienced Cover Supervisor, you will jump between classes, managing them in the absence of the class teacher. As an experienced Cover Supervisor, you will have strong behavioural management skills, and be able to command a room. An experienced Cover Supervisor must be proactive and commited to supporting secondary aged children. It is also vital that you have a strong understanding of the UK curriculum, and are confident supporting students within a variety of subjects.
If you have secondary school experience and a strong understanding of the UK curriculum, have strong behavioural management skills, and are comfortable leading a class, then this role could be for you. This experience could come from previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, or an UQ Teacher or HLTA. If you have experience as an LSA/TA in a secondary school and can demonstrate strong behaviour management skills, then please apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise pre-set work
- Answer questions from students regarding how the work should be completed
- Promote a posiitve learning enviornment for all students
- Manage students behaviour, handling/reporting any conflict as per the schools policy
- Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures
- Collect and pass on all school work to the appropriate teacher
- Support the day to day work of the school as directed when not supervising classes.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience working with secondary aged children
- Have the ability to manage students' behaviour in a classroom setting
- A strong understanding of the UK curriculum at secondary level
- Have numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or GCSE grade 4 (grade C) in Maths and English
- Be comfortable working independently/with minimal supervision
- Treat students and staff with respect
