As a key support service, the delivery of high quality ICT services is crucial to the efficient, effective and economic achievement of the Brigade's key purpose. In particular, ICT systems that provide operationally critical functions and the technical infrastructure that supports them have a direct bearing on the Brigade's ability to provide an efficient firefighting, rescue and community fire safety services to the people of London.
As the infrastructure manager you will need to establish and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Brigade's server and storage environments, ensuring that the effective operations of all systems are maintained. Current standards and duties (referred to collectively hereinafter as "the Brigade's Server Environment") include:
- Hypervisor Platforms - Microsoft & VMware
- Current Microsoft Server Operating Systems
- Current Microsoft Client Operating Systems
- Microsoft System Center Suite of products
- Microsoft Active Directory Services
- Microsoft Exchange
- HP and Dell Hardware (Servers)
- Backup and Recovery tools
- Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation
- Microsoft Azure
- Microsoft O365
- Infrastructure Security Products
- Management of ‘Gold' Builds For Windows 10/11 Devices
- Management of ‘Gold' Builds For Operational Devices (MDTs/Tablets/SatNavs)
Working as the infrastructure manager, you will be responsible for managing and motivating specialist technical staff, allocating them work, setting priorities and ensuring they are trained and developed to their full potential. Setting performance and quality targets, ensuring they are met and taking the necessary corrective action when required.
