Installation Engineer

Thank you for taking the time to read about this opportunity with Schuberts.

  • Are you looking for a new role where you get to travel around the UK and abroad?
  • Do you have an understanding of how things are made and love to fix things?
  • Do you want to work for a family business where people matter?

If you're reading this and thinking, yes, yes, yes, then becoming one of Schubert's new Installation Engineers might be the perfect opportunity for you!

History

Schubert Technical Services, founded in 1928, provides finishing equipment to a range of different industries. Over the past 80 years they have grown through the development of various new products such as the Schubox and have become exclusive agents for a number of UK companies such as Giardina Group and Infragas.

Customers range from small private companies to multinationals, operating across the UK and Ireland and selling into countries such as Holland, Belgium and Poland. At the very core they are a family business with strong values and a close-knit team.

No two days will be the same in this role, but a typical week might include:

  • Testing a new product ready for the customer installation at the Sheffield test site assisting with a live trial
  • Liaising with the factory site in Garforth in Leeds re projects
  • Travelling to a customer site for a 3 to 5 day installation, training up the customer's team and ensuring any initial problems are solved or travelling to two separate sites within the week for a couple of 1 day installs
  • Working with the team of installers to invite customers to the test site and run full days of production
  • Being in the office for a day to complete project related admin such at sign off sheets and service reports
  • Liaising with Project Manager/Directors to ensure the successful completion of customer requirements from placement of order right through to commissioning!

Someone who already has previous experience in this industry would be ideal and if we could find two people who were confident working/installing in various production and manufacturing finishing equipment systems, that would be amazing!

However, we know that that may not be achievable in terms of ticking off everything on our wish list.

What we do is niche!

The key to success in this role for you as a candidate will be the willingness to travel for the role, the appetite to learn something new on top of the engineering base that you'll already have and the ability to sort out problems independently through troubleshooting, when you're out on site.

So, all we ask of you is that you ...

  • have the ability to understand engineering assembly drawings
  • have some experience of assembling and physically installing and servicing large equipment - you might already be a mechanical fitter or maintenance engineer
  • have knowledge of fabrication techniques, assembly, modifications
  • are super organised at managing your own workload to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high quality
  • have a flexible mindset and are great at solving problems by troubleshooting
  • are a confident communicator and able to train clients on new equipment
  • have a general understanding of engineering and have experience welding in some way, shape or form
  • ideally have previous experience working in a manufacturing or installation environment
  • don't mind working away from home about 3 days a week when the install requires it (longer for the occasional abroad install)

And in return...

  • You'll be part of a great team with people of all ages
  • You'll have the opportunity to work on some great projects that could take you to a new country you've never seen before!

Gas Safe, electrical abilities and IPAF/FLT/MEWPS certificates would be an advantage.

If you want to read more about Schubert's and the amazing work they're involved with, have a look at their website and socials! Many projects are covered by NDA's, so we can't share more about those at this stage.
