Talent Acquisition Officer

We are pleased to be working with Kent Fire and Rescue Services on a number of Talent Acquisition roles. The role will provide specialist advice and support across all Talent Acquisition recruitment activities. The role requires the job holder to combine a thorough understanding of the underlying theories and principles of TA with practical procedural expertise. They will be responsible for ensuring that they provide an engaging and positive recruitment journey for all applicants.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for ensuring that all recruitment activities comply with organisational procedures and employment legislation, and reflect up-to-date professional TA practices
  2. Supporting managers through the development and review of job descriptions and person specifications
  3. Providing professional guidance on creating Job Description Questionnaires (JDQs) for the evaluation of roles, leading into offering insight into appropriate remuneration
  4. Providing advice and guidance on DBS checks and any visas/immigration requirements to recruiting managers, colleagues, and applicants to ensure compliance and understanding. Regular monitoring of visa status for compliance is essential to fulfil legal obligations.
  5. Advising and supporting the application of recruitment reasonable adjustments within the process. This includes a high degree of sensitivity and the application of knowledge in disability law to ensure compliance and support for individual needs
  6. Supporting and running positive action events across the county, taking a lead role in ensuring compliance with legal requirements and providing a consistent approach to equal opportunities.
  7. Supporting the Talent Manager to review current processes and procedures to ensure that these are legally compliant, integrate HR best practices, and meet organisational needs. Responsible for contributing to the development of new procedures when required

Skills, experience, knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of TA and TM practices, including strategic workforce planning.
  • Sound knowledge of the recent GDPR legislation and its practical application
  • Good knowledge of HR concepts and best practice relating to key TA processes including recruitment and selection, DBS checks, Right to Work regulations
  • Ability to critically analyse recruitment processesand identify improvement opportunities
  • Good communication skills to engage with key stakeholders
  • Ability to persuade and influence with assertive and professional style.
  • Collaborative - team working skills
  • Good practical understanding of Microsoft Office with the ability to create and edit documents in Word and to record data in Excel
  • Strong organisation skills, with an ability to productively manage high volumes and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to critically analyse recruitment processes and identify improvement opportunities
  • Good communication skills to engage with key stakeholders
  • Ability to persuade and influence with assertive and professional style.

  • Good practical understanding of Microsoft Office with the ability to create and edit documents in Word and to record data in Excel
  • Strong organisation skills, with an ability to productively manage high volumes and conflicting priorities
  • Experience in prioritising, planning and co-ordinating high volumes of work to meet specific deadlines - experience in roles requiring agility and responsiveness
  • Experience in roles requiring independent decision-making and problem-solving within a recruitment or HR context
  • Fully qualified CIPD or equivalent experience in a professional TA role.
