Job Title: News Producer - Japanese speaker
Salary: up to £24,000/ year + Overtime

International media company seeks a Japanese speaking News Producer. Fluency in Japanese and a proactive approach to news gathering are essential for the role. The role involves overseas travel (such as Middle East), mainly to Europe, and it is essential that you are available to travel at short notice and to work flexible hours including bank holidays and weekends.

You will be required to undertake detailed research, manage travel arrangements, office administration and accompany the correspondent and camera operator on filming assignments.

News Producer - Responsibilities:

  • Generating, following up and developing programme ideas
  • Presenting developed programme ideas to correspondents
  • Discussing programme and researching needs with correspondents
  • Gathering, fact-checking and presenting relevant information, facts and figures
  • Organising meetings and interviews with appropriate people- Writing and editing briefing notes and scripts
  • Conducting interviews- Briefing programme presenters and finding programme contributors
  • Booking production equipment and staff- Preparing cost accounts
  • Finding and checking information, using sources such as the internet, libraries and museums
  • Searching media libraries and archives for music, photographs and film footage
  • Checking copyright and arranging permission to use archive material- Keeping detailed records
  • Assisting with office administration

News Producer - Requirements:

  • Keen interest in domestic and international current affairs
  • Have excellent communication skills and an interest in video production techniques
  • Native level English and fluent in Japanese
  • A good team player as you will be working closely with Japanese correspondents and various broadcast staff.

**The role involves overseas travel, mainly to Europe as well as (such as Middle East), and it is essential that you are available to travel at short notice and to work flexible hoursincluding bank holidays and weekends.
