Your new company Hays Technology are recruiting a dynamic and skilled Data Migration Specialist to join a large public sector organisation on an 18-month fixed-term contract.
Your new role In your new role, you will play a crucial role in migrating data from Oracle databases to SQL databases. Your expertise will ensure a seamless transition, maintaining data integrity and optimising system performance.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse existing Oracle databases and design migration strategies to SQL.
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from Oracle to SQL databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful data migration.
- Monitor and troubleshoot migration processes, addressing any issues promptly.
- Document migration procedures and create comprehensive reports.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proven experience in data migration projects, specifically from Oracle to SQL.
- Strong SQL scripting skills.
- Familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
