Job Title: Head of Product Assurance Weapon Systems UK - Land

Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage or Bristol

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2--3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

  • A phenomenal opportunity to join the quality assurance group as the leader for the Weapon System (WS) UK Land team, this is a new role due to the continued success and expansion of the business.
  • This position will be critical for the development of the UK Weapon System team to ensure we have a team to support the future demands.
  • The role will be providing leadership for the quality assurance activities & performance of the UK Weapon System team.
  • This is an outstanding opportunity to network with and see a large variety of MBDA's functions and activities across all sites. The role will involve working on multi-national projects, at different phases of the lifecycle

What we're looking for from you:

  • Primary Quality Authority for Land WS, reporting into the Head of UK WS assuring activities align with MBDA process requirements and contractual standards.
  • First point of contact on all Quality issues including primary quality interface with the Customer
  • Fully accountable for performance and results of the team, including workload forecast and recruitment
  • Working with senior collaborators across the business to ensure the team align strategies to deliver business objectives
  • Managing external relationship with multiple Customers/Suppliers to ensure quality expectations are delivered.
  • Influencing senior management and stakeholders to proactively mitigate quality risks
  • Management of a multi-national Quality Network.
  • Balancing the demands of the business while supporting operational activities in the development of robust performance measures, using your own initiative to continually improve and find better ways of working.
  • Managing the demands across two different directorates
  • Develop team capability – understand team capabilities and develop training plans to support the team members ability to support the business, ensure a succession plan is established
  • Ideally minimum HNC/HND in Engineering or Quality Assurance field
  • Experienced quality professional, preferably from within an engineering subject area with a consistent record in Quality Assurance.
  • Practitioner of current QA problem solving and improvement methods (8D, RCA, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Experienced with the management of quality tools
  • Critical thinker, with Strong analytical skills; ability to run reports in Excel, use SAP QM system, and document management tools
