Learning Support Assistant

Prospero teacher are recruiting for LSAs to work at a specialist school in Preston, supporting children with moderate learning difficulties.

You will provide learning support to pupils and work in groups and on a 1:1 basis supported by other support and education staff. Ideally you will have previous experience of supporting those with complex needs or working within education.

Some pupils may present challenging behaviour and so candidates must ensure they are comfortable working in this type of environment and be aware that these are physically demanding roles.

THE ROLE:

  • Location: Preston
  • Position: Learning Support Assistant
  • Hours: 8:30am-15:30pm (term time only)
  • Type: Full time/Part time
  • Minimum rate of pay: £90
  • Start date: 28/10/2024
  • End date: ongoing
  • Contract type: Temporary

EXPERIENCE:

Relevant experience in a school or similar setting.

Experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

Experience of effectively and positively managing a class and leading learning with groups of pupils, using appropriate strategies to enable them to settle to learn.

Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable but training can be provided).

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
