Assistant Accountant

HR Employment is currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join one of our well respected client on a Permanent bases in West Bromwich.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts to a high level of accuracy, in a time manner, including accruals and prepayments
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Daily posting of bank payments
  • Preparation of monthly factoring reconciliations and identify any variances
  • Preparation of monthly/weekly supplier payment summaries to be reviewed by the Finance Manager
  • Preparation of weekly payroll for review by the Finance Manager
  • Assist with the monthly preparation of VAT Returns
  • Assist the wider team with overviews of the creditors and debtors positions and highlight any aged debts, identifying any material changes
  • Liaising with other departments and managers to resolve customer queries and identify any recurring errors
  • Assist and Liaise with external auditors to prepare the year end audit information
  • Maintain the fixed asset registers and Lease schedules with an understanding of IFRS16
  • Assist with the development of internal systems and internal controls across the business

Skills:

  • Strong IT skills, knowledge of Excel and desire to learn about internal systems and their control environment
  • Sage 50 Experience
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to support a team and work on your own
  • Ability to generate reports for non-finance managers

Experience:

Previous experience working as an accounts assistant or similar role .The ideal candidate would have studied/be studying AAT Level 3 and be currently studying or have a desire to complete AAT level 4. Previous experience of management account preparation, journal entry and nominal code analysis
