Our client, facilitate a niche industry with engineering and they are looking for a Buyer to join their busy team!
Buyer Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all materials are available on time and at the most cost effective price
- Sourcing and placement of orders for contract and non-contract items
- Using MRP systems, maintaining supplier details, review supplier performance and complete MRP reports and manual requisitions
- Monitor supplier performance and developing improvement programs
- Negotiate for the most cost effective outcome wherever possible
- Maintenance of minimum stock levels against MRP requirements
- Adjust component MRP parameters to achieve on time availability and appropriate batch sizes
- Assist Stores personnel when required including stocktaking etc.
The ideal Buyer will:
- A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) (Desirable but not essential) - if not are you willing to obtain one that may include out of hours or distance learning?
- 3 years' experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar and are you competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data?
- Experienced in supplier or customer management
- Demonstrate a competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook?
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment (marine manufacturing would be an advantage).
- Possess a good level of Maths and English
- Demonstrate a professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing
