Our Public Sector Client based in North West London is looking for a Senior Service Charge Officer on an ongoing temporary basis.
Role Purpose:
- Ensure accurate calculation of annual estimated service charges for leaseholders and tenants.
- Timely production of demand notices and annual reconciliation of final statements in accordance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, manage, and motivate the team, including performance reviews and identifying training needs.
- Agree on an annual service improvement plan and set objectives and performance targets.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver consistent service and maximise service charge income collection.
- Support the preparation of service charge accounts and provide commentary on major variances.
- Ensure all transactions are reviewed and journals actioned appropriately.
- Support the annual service charge budget setting process.
- Act on audit recommendations and build constructive relationships with auditors.
- Provide regular performance reports to internal and external clients.
- Stay updated on legislative changes and best practices, providing written reports on their impact.
Standard Responsibilities:
- Comply with the organisation's values, policies, and regulatory frameworks, including Code of Conduct, Health & Safety, Data Protection, and Equality and Diversity.
Person Specification:
- Qualified by experience or part-qualified accountant with a clear understanding of accounting.
- Knowledge of legislative background and best practices in service charges.
- Strong communication skills and experience with financial accounting systems (e.g., SUN, Vision, Northgate).
- Experience of managing staff and dealing with auditors.
- Advanced IT skills, including Excel and Word.
