SENCO

Empowering Learning are working with a dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Wolverhampton who are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SENCO to lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs within their school.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our SEN students receive the support and resources they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

The role is part time working 2 days per week, starting immediately until July.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy.
  • Coordinate and implement SEN support across the school.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on SEN best practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEN and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements related to SEN.
  • Liaise with the senior leadership team to develop and implement whole-school initiatives that promote inclusivity.
  • Advocate for SEN students, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs met.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant SEN qualifications.
  • Proven experience in a SENCO role or similar within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEN Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
