Position

Position: Full time (35hr per week), permanent

Location: London / Hybrid

Do you have strong relationship building skills to ensure seamless communication and collaboration? Are you a detail-oriented individual who ensures high quality in every task? Do you thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment?

The production editor will be an essential part of Retail Week's content team, working across editorial and commercial content, including digital news, features, analysis, opinion and reports across all sectors including fashion, grocery, health and beauty, sports and leisure, and home and DIY. You will work alongside the subeditor, editors and reporters to ensure all copy is error-free, factually correct, meets deadlines and is optimised for online readers with creative, original and inspiring headlines, standfirsts and captions. You will be responsible for organising production schedules and commissioning freelancers when necessary. The production editor will also be a champion for Retail Week's house style and tone of voice. As well as publishing content and ensuring the high-quality presentation of articles and pages on retail-week.com, you will have responsibility for the production and delivery of daily newsletters.

What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the Retail Week production desk
  • Subbing and production of news, features, analysis and opinion on retail-week.com
  • Sending email newsletters (including being part of the early shift rota for creating the daily Morning Briefing)
  • Subbing marketing material for reports and events
  • Overseeing production of special reports, including creating schedules and sourcing freelance resource if necessary
  • Ensuring the appearance and functionality of pages on retail-week.com are maintained to a high standard
  • Championing the brand's house style and tone of voice
  • Attending and contributing to editorial meetings
  • Stand in for the managing editor at meetings when necessary
  • Creating and updating charts and graphs for reports and articles on occasion

What you'll need:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced editorial environment.
  • Have strong organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to build good relationships with editors, reporters and marketers to liaise with them on matters concerning copy.
  • Experience working with a variety of CMSs e.g. Webvision, Shorthand, Wordpress.
  • Experience setting up and sending email newsletters.
  • Good knowledge of media law.
  • Experience in using Adobe CC suite is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with content analytics is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools is desirable but not essential.
