Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Reading
Salary: £34,172- £37,908
Hours: 37 Hours per week
We are currently seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join an exciting collaborative provision which will provide a safe and happy learning environment for 150 learners from Year 1 to Year 13, with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Autism Spectrum Conditions and associated complex needs, including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health.

Duties to include but not limited to:
- To provide a high standard of safe, holistic and evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy within a school setting
- To undertake specialist assessment, treatment, interventions, education and support for student in a school setting (including advice to parents and carers).
- To devise and evaluate Speech and Language therapy plans and classroom-based programmes based on the assessment process in consultation with the student, teachers and TAs, family and carers respecting choices and diversity.
- To develop Augmentative Alternative Communication methods in relation to the children's needs.
- To liaise with, and foster positive relationships with the SENCO, Headteacher, Pastoral staff, external agencies, students and parents.
- To record all Speech and Language therapy intervention in compliance with the Trust's guidelines and using appropriate management information systems).
- To evaluate Speech and Language therapy intervention and always maintain and develop a high standard of clinical and professional practice.
- To assist with service development and improvement through audit, planning and review

Knowledge and experience:
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
- HCPC and RCSLT registration
- Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice
Experience of working with children and teenagers with ASD
- Experience of working with SEND (especially ADHD and SEMH)
- Experience of working within an educational setting
- Experience in training staff in strategies to support SEND and using different forms of Augmentative and Alternative Communication
- Knowledge of assessment tools
- Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of clinical audit
- Good skills of working with parents and implementing strategies to support children at home.
- An understanding of and the ability to work with children with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
