About Police Digital Service

We exist to harness the power of digital, data and technology to enable UK policing to better protect the communities it serves. Ours is a team of experts in commercial services, technical assurance, data, digital transformation and innovation, with a unique experience in policing and national programme delivery.

The National Management Centre will provide visibility and control of information risks for Policing. It will support the 24x7x365 nature of the police operations, providing a threat detection and response capability for digital services before, during and after cyber attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand upcoming change, how it will impact the NMC (National Management Centre) and relevant partners
  • Drive early engagement to communicate and deliver change that supports transformation of the services provided by the NMC
  • Be responsible for ensuring current onboarding process and procedures are continually reviewed to meet both business and customer requirements
  • Work with partners and internal/external stakeholders to follow a defined and governed onboarding process to ensure their safe adoption of NMC services
  • Be responsible for the sharing of good practice between partners and stakeholders and, where appropriate, facilitating access, learning, and sharing
  • Report into senior management and Programme Boards
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that there is enough capacity to meet the NMC demand plan
  • Continual service improvement, consistently analysing processes for potential improvement opportunities
  • Ensure that risks and issues associated with the delivery of services are identified and appropriately managed on an ongoing basis
  • Service level management, planning for and defining organisational service delivery targets, then measuring performance against those targets
  • Key activities include identifying shared challenges across organisations and departments, leveraging appropriate methods to deliver defined outcomes

What you need to succeed in the role

Essential

  • Strategic change and project management experience
  • A solid understanding of how people go through a change and the change process
  • An understanding of cyber security and supporting/emerging technologies
  • Proven leadership, stakeholder and vendor management experience
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate and challenge effectively at senior levels
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a complex, challenging and sensitive environment
  • Demonstrable experience in managing service performance and reporting
  • Demonstrable experience in the management of service risks and issues
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and have willingness to learn

Desirable

  • Awareness and appreciation of the challenges presented by delivering operational Policing Services
  • Experience of benefits realisation and measuring change effectiveness
  • Experience of working within an environment with mature and established governance practices and processes
  • Change or project management qualifications

Working Arrangements

At the NMC, you will benefit from hybrid working, getting the advantages of both face-to-face team engagement and home working. NMC employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week.

All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been approved before starting with PDS.
