Financial Controller

We are working with a dynamic energy company who are looking for a Financial Controller to lead a team responsible for handling monthly financial reporting, assist with year-end audits, and contribute to various projects. This position requires managing month-end balances and reporting directly to the Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly and quarterly figures and disclosures.
- Provide senior management with accurate and comprehensive financial information to support effective policy-making and financial decisions.
- Supply external auditors with necessary documentation and support.
- Manage all finance and accounting operations.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and report variances.
- Prepare timely monthly management accounts.
- Streamline and enhance all operations and accounting systems.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.
Required Skills:
- Practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
- Proficiency in IT, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical skills for effective financial report analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller leading a team of 3-5 direct reports.
- Experience with derivative and fair value reporting.
- Over 8 years of qualified accounting and finance experience (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience in creating financial statements.
- Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
