We are recruiting for a progressive and supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) secondary school, committed to transforming the lives of young people who experience significant barriers to learning due to emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. The school provides a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our multidisciplinary team and support students who face communication challenges. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people, helping them develop essential communication skills to enhance their learning and well-being.

**Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and deliver speech and language therapy interventions for students with SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and mental health professionals to develop individualized support plans.
  • Provide 1:1 and group therapy sessions, focusing on improving students' communication skills, social interactions, and overall language development.
  • Support students with speech and language difficulties, including those with ASD, ADHD, and other associated needs.
  • Deliver staff training and provide classroom strategies to support language and communication in a learning environment.
  • Contribute to students' Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) by setting goals and tracking progress.
  • Collaborate with parents and external agencies to ensure consistent support for each student.

**About You

  • Qualifications: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children and young people in an educational or SEMH setting is essential.
  • Strong understanding of speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) and their impact on learning and behavior.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs.
  • Confidence in delivering therapy in both group and individual settings, and experience in tailoring interventions to meet each student's needs.

**What We Offer

  • A friendly, supportive, and inclusive working environment with ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • The chance to work within a highly skilled team of teachers, therapists, and mental health professionals.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities to contribute to innovative programs that positively impact students' communication, confidence, and future success.

If you are a passionate Speech and Language Therapist who is ready to make a difference in the lives of young people with SEMH needs, we would love to hear from you.
