Management Accountant

Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting for a dynamic and detail-oriented Management Accountant on behalf of a large retail and distribution organisation in North Birmingham. This unique role offers the opportunity to work across two critical areas of the business, providing comprehensive financial support and analysis to ensure operational efficiency and strategic growth.

Responsibilities

Franchise Division:

  • Assist in all areas within the Finance Function for the Franchises division.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and weekly, monthly, and annual accounts.
  • Respond to Franchisee queries and partner with BDMs and Franchisees.
  • Prepare and enter journals including accruals and prepayments.
  • Participate in team meetings and carry out additional tasks as requested by the manager.
  • Continuously improve finance processes and aim for first-time accuracy.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders.

Stock & Distribution:

  • Provide reporting, analysis, and insight to Distribution, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Business partner with senior stakeholders in Distribution and Supply Chain.
  • Weekly and monthly stock position reporting and proactive analysis of stock trends.
  • Ensure compliance with Group Accounting Policy.
  • Month-end processing of journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate duty capture.
  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders including third-party hauliers and HMRC.
  • Working capital forecasting for stock.
  • Support distribution cost accounting and reporting, including Warehouse and Transport Costs, Distribution Packs, and KPI tracking.
  • Contribute to business projects, initiatives, and trials.
  • Assist in annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.

The ideal candidate will be Part Qualified ACCA or CIMA with experience working in a similar role in a fast-paced environment. You must have strong analytical skills with excellent Microsoft Excel proficiency and effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
