Senior Procurement Specialist

REED Procurement are partnered with an employer who are renowned as being one of Wales's larger employers. They are known for having great employee satisfaction ratings, and a low staff turnover in their Procurement departments. They are looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist to support their procurement operations on a 12 month fixed term contract. This role involves strategic management of internal and external relationships, delivering complex contracts, and acting as an expert in procurement practices. The ideal candidate will drive cost savings, ensure compliance with relevant laws, and support the development of commercial acumen across the business.

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Manage and deliver a variety of contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant procurement regulations.
  • Foster commercial and contractual awareness within the organisation.
  • Act as a Procurement Partner to specific business areas, focusing on reducing costs and improving compliance.
  • Negotiate agreements with key suppliers to secure value, savings, and reliable supply.
  • Identify and implement risk management strategies for procurement activities.
  • Promote innovation and cost reduction across capital and operational expenditures.
  • Conduct robust procurement processes, including market analysis, tendering, and contract management.
  • Advise on contract conditions and assess risks associated with procurement strategies.
  • Enhance the organisation's commercial capabilities and identify opportunities for procurement improvements.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with various internal teams such as Capital delivery teams, Legal Services, and Civil Engineering to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
  • Engage with external partners, including suppliers, Site Managers, cost management professionals, and legal advisors.

About You:

  • A commercial qualification such as MCIPS is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in high-level procurement within regulated sectors.
  • Strong commercial focus with a history of achieving cost and process efficiencies.
  • Skilled in negotiation and drafting tailored contractual terms.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams to deliver objectives.
