Location: Whitstable, Kent

Salary: £25,000

Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30 - 4.30 and Friday 7.30 - 1.30

Role Summary:

The Test Technician will be responsible for conducting tests on products to ensure they meet safety and quality standards. You will support and execute testing in accordance with the relevant standards using static and dynamic testing methods.

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • To support the Lead Operator ensuring that all tests are completed in the most efficient and safe manner.
  • To assist with the operation of the dynamic test rig, alongside the Lead Operator for this equipment and the Manager.
  • To set up tests in accordance with the relevant standards, ensuring compliance to both customer protocols and the mandatory requirements of the standard.
  • Support timely delivery of preventative maintenance programmes for the facility, ensuring that equipment and performance issues are clearly diagnosed and reported to the Manager.
  • Perform post-test analysis using the appropriate supporting software.
  • Generate test reports in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Develop a high level of understanding on the quality levels expected by customers and the standards certificates.
  • Support global Research & Development and conformity of production test programmes as required.
  • Assist the analysis and diagnosis on test outcomes.
  • Assist with the safe unloading, transfer and re-loading of test specimen, following prescribed safe systems of working.
  • Maintain the company instrument calibration register, liaising with suppliers and the Manager to ensure instruments are always ready for use.
  • Represent the company in a professional, courteous manner in all customer facing activities.
  • To ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times by all members of the team.
  • Support the company's continuous improvement and 5s cultures through active engagement and delivery of improvement initiatives.
  • During low activity periods, support other functional areas of the business.

Experience and skills required for this position:

  • A qualification in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering, or similar.
  • 2 years' experience working in an Engineering, Technical or Workshop environment.
  • Have a 'hands on' approach, with good mechanical assembly skills.
  • Be self motivated and focused.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be well-presented, personable and approachable.
  • Good numeric and literacy skills.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ideally you will have experience in an automotive or testing industry.
  • Ideally you will have experience in new product development
