Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced person to coordinate our logistics department. The successful applicant will be highly organised and have excellent customer relation skills, being able to understand customer needs, as well as operating the logistics department in an efficient manner.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Calling customers to arrange deliveries, planning routes and assessing possible load combinations. This will involve organising deliveries with our own vehicles as well as booking transport with subcontract hauliers.
  • Liaising with operations staff re delivery arrangements.
  • Preparing paperwork for incoming deliveries, so that ops staff have everything necessary for unpacking and sorting orders.
  • Receiving incoming goods onto our stock system.
  • Preparing delivery notes and paperwork for outgoing deliveries.
  • Booking outgoing pallet and parcel deliveries.
  • Providing operations staff with picking lists for all orders.
  • You may be required at times to assist the operations team practically with preparing orders/loading vehicles.

Required Qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills

  • Experience in running a logistics department.
  • Ideally, experience in loading/packing trees and plants.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to understand and empathise with customer needs at the same time as running the department efficiently.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure during periods of peak output.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to drive a forklift would be advantageous, but not essential
