Cycle Hire Assistant

Summary

As Cycle Hire Assistant, you'll give a friendly welcome and information and advice about cycle hire. You'll make sure everyone who visits has an enjoyable and memorable time. You'll hire out bikes, service them and help to deliver our cycling programming which includes, 1-2-1 lessons, guided group rides and balance bike courses.

Hours: 576 hours a year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

Shift times are usually 9:30am - 5pm and average working patterns are 1-2 full weekends a month and 2-3 days a week during school holidays. Rotas can be flexible and are worked out fairly between team of 3.

Salary: £11.50 an hour

What it's like to work here

In this role you'll be line managed by the Experience and Visitor Programming Manager, working closely alongside the Cycle Hire Supervisor and other Cycle Hire Assistant. There is also a small team of dedicated cycle hire volunteers who support us in our work who you will also work with.

On busy days you will work with one other member of staff. Otherwise, you will be working independently, supported by volunteers.

What you'll be doing

Your daily duties will vary from answering people's queries and advising them on which trails would be best for them, to preparing, maintaining and hiring out the equipment.

It's all about giving a great service to everyone. You'll talk to people, giving them the right information, and you'll also listen to them so you know what they need and what their concerns might be. Your day is all about helping as many people as possible to have a great day in the outdoors.
