Male SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 4

A primary school is seeking a Male SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 boy with complex needs. The position requires a male due to the specific needs of the child. This is a full-time, term-time-only role starting immediately and running until the end of the academic year.

You'll be working 1:1 with the child, providing support in both his learning and emotional development. The right candidate will be friendly, firm, and fair, able to build a trusting relationship while maintaining clear boundaries. You'll need patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt your approach to suit the child's individual needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to help the child manage his learning and behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to develop strategies that meet his unique needs.
  • Be a positive, consistent presence in his daily routine, helping him engage with his education and peers.
  • Adapt activities and tasks to ensure the child's progress in line with his individual education plan.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in SEN support is beneficial but not essential.
  • Patience, resilience, and the ability to be both supportive and structured.
  • An interest in working with children with complex needs.
