We are partnering with a Manchester City Centre client to recruit a Bookkeeper/Finance Officer who will support the Head of Finance in ensuring smooth operation of the transactional finance function.

The role will cover a wide range of transactional finance duties in this interesting setting. You will be liaising with a wide network of stakeholders across different business sectors so, as well as your strong transactional finance skills, you'll also be an engaging and professional individual. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small and supportive finance team in one of the city's key organisations.

Key responsibilities of the Bookkeeper/Finance Officer:

  • Full Sales Ledger Function - Using Sage, you'll maintain the whole sales ledger function, raising sales invoices, producing statements, inputting payments into on-line banking system ready for authorisation
  • Credit Control – monitoring and chasing debt, compiling debtors report
  • Full Purchase Ledger Function and reconciliations - Processing of purchase invoices with their respective purchase orders, ensuring invoices are matched, recorded, and signed off, inputting into Sage, Statement reconciliations
  • Recording, monitoring and analysis of all expenditure, reconciliation to budget holder detail, with variance analysis
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Reconciling and posting of Petty Cash expenditure
  • Reconciling, and posting of Credit card expenditure
  • Ad-hoc reporting and finance related projects
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end year preparation and procedures and the production of reports and analysis
  • Streamlining and improving processes for efficiency and smooth running of the various aspects of the transactional finance function

Key requirements for the Bookkeeper/Finance Officer:

  • Sound knowledge of financial accounting and understanding of financial transactions
  • Experience of working with SAGE or similar
  • Experience and use of commercial online banking
  • Experience of sales ledger and managing debtors
  • Good systems and Excel skills in relation to data sorting and analysis
  • Exceptional attention to detail with accurate inputting
  • Excellent organisational skills including time management, accurate record keeping and an ability to prioritise
  • Excellent telephone manner and correspondence skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Experience of working in a commercially confidential environment
