Senior Electrical Engineer

The Role

In this role, you will provide expert electrical engineering support, including design and technical advice, across various areas of UU. You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and manage technical staff within your discipline. Your leadership will help shape UU's electrical engineering strategy, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge technologies and systems that enhance efficiency and support our ambitious goals. Additionally, you will play a key role in fostering the professional development of engineers throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Delivery & Technical Advice: Deliver a range of projects, providing technical engineering advice, including data gathering, analysis, design, and preparation of documents.
  • Team Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with other disciplines and internal clients, review proposals, and deputise for a Principal Engineer when needed.
  • Standards & Procedures: Develop and improve engineering standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and Quality Management Systems.
  • Professional Development: Maintain and develop Continued Professional Development (CPD), mentor and coach developing engineers, and function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) when directed.
  • Industry Engagement: Raise the profile of technical leadership in the water industry through technical papers and STEM activities.

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified to Degree/HNC/HND level in relevant engineering subject or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Chartered/Incorporated professional, working towards chartership or equivalent level of expertise.
  • Experience of providing technical advice and influencing the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
  • Experience and/or understanding of electrical engineering design, systems and technologies, i.e. Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) systems.
  • Hold a current Full UK driving licence.
