Software Engineer (Fulltime) - Salary - £37,511 to £44,130 (dependent on experience) - Hybrid working - 1 to 2 days in the office per week.

About the role

This is an exciting time to join our Technical Operations Department, having just made a major investment into our Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) systems with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

This is a new software engineering role at Ordnance Survey, we are on the lookout for a software engineer to join and form a new team that brings development capability in house for our new finance system.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone that has a background/interest in ERP development, specifically D365 Finance & Supply Chain Management, to build and configure solutions for our business and internal teams.

This role will include activities such as

  • Developing and extending business logic and user interfaces for D365 Finance & Operations using X++
  • Supporting new and existing interfacing systems, including digital and physical fulfilment of products and services
  • Working with wider development teams & Partners to provide end to end business solutions and incident resolution
  • Testing to ensure business requirements are met and support roadmap releases
  • Provide second level support to technical and non-technical users
  • Engage in design reviews with the team and drive adherence to coding best practices & modern principles

About You

We are looking for someone with

  • Ability to rapidly learn and deliver development activities for Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations using X++ language
  • Self-driven and motivated, asks the right questions to achieve goals efficiently
  • Clear / Concise communication skills to engage with development teams and our internal finance and supply chain teams
  • Can solve problems individually and support the team where required

Essential experience required for this role

  • Experience of professional development with one or more programming languages for example, X++ or any other 4GL, C#, SQL
  • Understanding and ability to use modern coding practices and design patterns
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and deploy fixes through environments
  • Experience in developing and delivering production ready systems
  • Good knowledge of the Software Testing Lifecycle, ensuring appropriate testing is applied at all stages prior to a production release
  • Experience using a mix of Software Delivery methodologies such as Agile, Kanban, Waterfall
  • Proficient with workflow tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira or equivalent
  • Previous ERP development experience
  • Experience with integration of D365 Finance & Operations using protocols like OData, APIs, or third-party applications
  • Knowledge of industry standard Finance modules
  • Experience in any of the following: BYOD, Azure Platform, Power Platform

Location: We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to spend 1 to 2 days a week in the office with the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.
