We are currently recruiting for a Development Underwriter on behalf of our client, one of the leading brands in the UK insurance market.
Joining an established and high performing team, you will help to lead the profitable growth of the North regional commercial business at an exciting time of growth and ambition for the company, underwriting traded new business.

Key Responsibilities
- Being recognised as an experienced Underwriter within your region by your brokers.
- Promoting the company in the North region, including providing broker training and presentations, and acting as an advocate of the company's products and service.
- Consistently and profitably underwriting larger, more complex cases.
- Executing the local underwriting strategy in conjunction with members of the senior management team.
- Shaping the company's underwriting strategy by providing feedback on possible areas of improvement and identifying new opportunities.
- Taking referrals from less experienced team members, coaching and mentoring as needed.
- Leading underwriting and sales visits to larger clients and prospects.
- Providing leadership to ensure that the target retention rate for the region is achieved, handling a very small number yourself.
- Developing close, effective relationships with brokers to develop new opportunities and contribute to the team's new business target.
- Increasing submission & conversion numbers through large client prospecting.
Key Requirements
- Candidates must have previous experience as a Property & Casualty Underwriter, including underwriting larger and more complex risks.
- Strong communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills.
