Academics are currently looking for experienced Teaching Assistants for day-to-day and short/long term roles within our partnership secondary schools. Working across Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding areas can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of secondary schools and that we do have different requirements to suit.
We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our teaching assistants into permanent work following a successful period of long term supply within our secondary schools.
Responsibilities of a Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Supporting the teacher with the delivery of the lesson.
- Preparing the classroom for lessons, such as setting up equipment.
- Managing behaviour and engaging students with their own learning.
- Working with students either one to one or in small groups out of the classroom.
- Committed to support both the teacher and the students to succeed.
For this role, applicants who apply must have:
- Confident communication skills and to be a excellent motivator in the classroom (1-2-1 or small group support).
- Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
