Myn is thrilled to recruit for a Social Worker for our long-term client in the South East of England. This role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. You will work alongside families, respecting their rights and recognising their strengths, all while promoting the welfare of children within their families.

Role Purpose:

As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in helping families identify their needs and work collaboratively to support positive change. You will develop high levels of skill in motivational practice, guiding parents in recognising aspects of their lives that need change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage Contacts: Assess incoming contacts from families and partner organisations to determine eligibility for statutory social work assessments.
  • Assess Needs: Evaluate the needs of family members and develop SMART plans to support them while reducing risks to children.
  • Collaborate: Work with partners to address family needs, monitoring progress through child in need and core group meetings.
  • Child Protection: Conduct investigations into child protection cases and involve families in developing safety plans.
  • Legal Proceedings: Initiate discussions for S20 agreements or legal proceedings when necessary to protect children.
  • Placement Support: Collaborate with fostering and adoption teams to secure high-quality placements for children, ensuring they are supported in stable, long-term homes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain social work case records, assessments, and plans in accordance with practice standards and organisational policies.
  • Effective Communication: Foster relationships with legal services and local family courts to manage legal proceedings efficiently.
  • Promote Practice: Follow service programmes and engage in regular supervision to enhance outcomes for children and families.
  • Inclusive Approach: Ensure the views and wishes of children, young people, and their families are at the heart of care plans.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection, with a strong understanding of abuse and neglect forms.
  • Motivational Skills: Ability to use motivational interviewing techniques to engage families and facilitate change.
  • Assessment Skills: Experience in strengths-based assessments and developing SMART plans.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and services.
  • Qualifications: A relevant social work qualification and registration with the appropriate professional body.
