Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Engineer, your role will involve:

  • Customer Collaboration: Work directly with clients to understand their requirements and manage individual projects on a day-to-day basis.
  • Design Leadership: Oversee all mechanical aspects of design, including static load, dynamic load, and vibration considerations.
  • Custom Design Creation: Confidently work from customer specifications or create designs from scratch, ensuring the highest standards of quality and functionality.
  • Product Design: Focus on the design and development of new products, with an emphasis on mechanical and sheet metal components.
  • Design Software Expertise: Use design software such as Creo & Windchill, or Autodesk Inventor & Vault, to develop and refine designs.
  • Quality and Efficiency Tools: Apply design methodologies such as DFMEA and Six Sigma tolerance analysis to ensure optimal performance.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with customers to clarify needs, update on progress, and lead design reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A BEng in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in designing products, ideally within the mechanical and sheet metal industries.
  • Proficiency in using design software such as Creo & Windchill, or Autodesk Inventor & Vault.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with clients and manage project requirements effectively.
  • A solid understanding of design tools and processes, including DFMEA and Six Sigma tolerance analysis.
