Compliance Analyst - Financial Services

The Compliance Analyst will assist the Head of Regulatory Compliance with Financial Crime activities, complying with requests under the UK General Data Protection Regulations.

This role is based in South West London and will involve reviewing policies, procedures, and practices to maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Description

  • Undertake 1st level review or 2nd level (as appropriate) of monthly/quarterly AML transactional reports and Sanctions reports, referring to other data sets or customer record systems to identify potential suspicious activity and take appropriate action
  • Undertake review of HMT Sanctions notices against customer databases
  • Undertake and progress KYC referrals
  • Assist the Fraud Officer with fraud investigations and reporting (both internal and external)
  • Assist the Nominated Officer with money laundering investigations and reporting (both internal and external)
  • Review and/or updating of individual customer details and the customer portfolio prior to uploading to/removal from a third party screening system
  • Create and Maintain departmental activity logs, risk classification matrices, breaches logs and gap analysis
  • Assist with responding to data subject rights requests within statutory deadlines and as directed by the Data Protection Officer
  • Assist with the production of management information (MI) and of statutory regulatory reports as directed by the Head of Regulatory Compliance and within specified timescales
  • Assist in other departments of the Society as required including but not limited to Legal Services and Legal Counsel.

Profile

A successful Compliance Analyst should have:

  • A degree in law, criminology, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in a compliance role, preferably within the financial services sector.

  • This role would suit someone with circa 1-2 years experience within a previous compliance role.

  • Knowledge of UK regulatory standards and compliance laws.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • A high level of integrity and professionalism.
