Legal Counsel - Clean Energy

Our client, a leading global energy company based in Oxfordshire, is seeking a talented and experienced Legal Counsel to join their dynamic team. The company are at the forefront of designing and operating technology in the clean energy sector.

You will have the opportunity to make a real impact in shaping the future of sustainable energy. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts across various business activities. This includes securing funding opportunities, negotiating supply agreements, and providing services to customers. Your expertise will be crucial in developing the company's contracting strategy and ensuring efficient and consistent solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including; Collaboration Agreements, Sales Agreements, Purchasing and Supply Agreements, and Research Agreements
  • Develop bespoke agreements for strategic opportunities
  • Provide legal counsel to internal teams on various legal topics
  • Offer guidance and support on contract drafting and legal compliance matters to the Commercial and Procurement teams
  • Utilise your knowledge of the law to develop pragmatic and creative solutions while balancing risk, resource, and delivery
  • Develop contracting templates that align with the company's strategy and risk profile
  • Assist in developing contracting capabilities within the Commercial and Procurement teams
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the company's strategy and objectives across different departments

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
  • Experience in contract and commercial law, ideally with knowledge in complementary areas of law
  • Demonstrable experience in applying the law to different business scenarios and developing commercially focused solutions
  • Strong legal research skills and ability to apply research to complex scenarios
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytic skills
  • Highly organised with proven experience in prioritising and delivering work to deadlines
  • Experience in training and supervising others
  • Previous in-house or technology sector experience is desirable
