Service Improvement Lead

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Service Improvement Lead for Rochdale Council. This is a full-time temporary role for the next 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

What is the role?

Rochdale Council are looking for a Service Improvement Lead, to provide experience at a management level in delivering DFGs, particularly managing complex cases. It is an adaptations lead, working on the delivery of adaptations for people in their own home (stairlifts, accessible showers, ramps etc). In many LAs, this function would sit within the Housing or Environmental Health Dept, but in Rochdale, it is in Adult Care and covers adaptations for children with a disability.

What are your responsibilities?

  • To provide effective and efficient leadership and management of the HIA Team, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and eligibility criteria in order to meet national and local requirements.
  • Leadership, motivation and management of Rochdale Home Improvement Agency Team, ensuring the service is effective and delivers positive outcomes. This includes:
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality adaptations for adults and children with eligible assessed needs
  • Managing performance and quality assurance, resources and budgets.
  • Ensuring Legislation relating to Disabled Facilities grant allocation is applied appropriately to all eligible service users.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to in all works on site by both external contractors and those staff employed directly by the HIA.
  • Ensuring continuous improvement of work processes to deliver efficient, cost effective adaptations and services across the HIA.
  • To actively support workers across the service to increase the number of Careline and AT referrals.
  • Ensuring effective liaison and communication with key partners in an integrated environment.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver cost effective, outcome focussed services (particularly adaptations and other prevention services) which meet local needs.
  • Establish and maintain systems for the supervision, support, performance monitoring and development of staff.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of the service, improving procedures, information and systems and ultimately the service for DFG recipients.
  • To be responsible for the operational delivery and development of a high quality service to customers in relation to all aspects of the work of Rochdale Home Improvement Agency.
  • Respond to and effectively deal with complaints from customers in relation to any part of the Home Improvement Agency work.
  • What skills do you Need?
  • Must have previous Service Improvement Lead experience.
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, and other members of staff including managers.
  • Strong IT Skills, as you will be using Microsoft office, including internal council IT systems.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update Service.
  • You will need significant experience in the management of an adaptations service.
  • To ideally have comprehensive DFG management experience.
