Role Overview:
As a Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in delivering commercial services, supporting strategy implementation, and contributing to the fast-paced growth of the business. You will need a strong understanding of commercial principles, ideally within a digital environment, as well as the ability to bring creative, innovative solutions. This role involves managing multiple internal stakeholders and approvals, while maintaining excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to support the business's agile growth agenda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary customer interface for proposals and contractual matters.
- Work independently to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, coordinating with subject matter experts across various disciplines (e.g. data protection, legal, security).
- Lead commercial issues and internal governance processes.
- Oversee the preparation of proposals, bids, contract changes, and claims, bringing innovation and creativity to the process.
- Serve as the commercial lead on Government frameworks such as Crown Commercial Services (CCS).
- Manage contract activities throughout the contract lifecycle, including deliverables, performance, and risk mitigation.
- Engage senior leadership and proactively work with other functions to enhance commercial solutions.
- Understand the business development strategy and targets, working with procurement to leverage supply chains.
- Provide coaching on contract management tools and techniques, and influence pricing decisions.
- Tailor processes to support the agility of the client's needs, such as standardising contracts and streamlining governance.
Required Experience:
- Knowledge of the UK Defence Sector and key industry players.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Experience in contract drafting and stakeholder management.
- Capacity to prioritise workloads and manage conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with strong business acumen.
- Proven expertise in contract management and generating winning bids.
Travel and Hybrid Working:
- While the client promotes flexible working and aim to minimise travel, the role may require travel to client sites across the UK, alongside a mix of office-based and home working as necessary.
