Finance Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and self-motivated Finance Manager to join an award-winning, forward-thinking organisation.

This role offers the flexibility of agile working, allowing you to work from home or from our modern office located in Manchester

You will be at the heart of delivering high-quality financial and management reporting services.

You will be directly reporting to the Head of Department, ensuring robust control across areas of Financial Accounting, Financial Systems and Master Data.

As a Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the provision of general accounting services.

Your responsibilities will include preparing comprehensive management reports, driving process improvements, operating within a robust control environment, managing the Finance Systems team, coordinating audits, developing policies, troubleshooting operational issues, and overseeing staff development.

Your ability to lead a diverse team while maintaining high service delivery standards will be key to your success in this role.

Key duties include:

  • Support day-to-day provision of general accounting services to meet business needs.
  • Prepare timely completion of management & operational reports, using strong business knowledge and judgement and providing high level commentary.
  • Lead the accurate and timely preparation of management accounts, providing meaningful commentary for informed decision-making by senior management.
  • Drive standardisation, continuous improvements and efficiency of process and controls.
  • Operate a robust control environment.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Finance Systems and Finance Master Data team.
  • Deliver functional projects to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate annual audit process, liaising with auditors and stakeholders to ensure timely completion and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot daily operational issues and work closely with stakeholders.
  • Oversee induction, training, professional development, and appraisal of finance staff.

The ideal candidate for this Finance Manager role will bring a proven background in managing a general accounting team and delivering process improvement agendas.

You should hold a degree or equivalent experience in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity. Your ability to develop, motivate and lead a diverse and inclusive team will be crucial. A strong knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / UK GAAP / Companies Acts etc., proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel, and in-depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle in particular) are essential.

  • Proven background in management of general accounting team and experience of delivering process improvement agenda.
  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity.
  • Ability to develop, motivate and lead a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Strong knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / UK GAAP / Companies Acts etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly MS Excel)
