Passenger Transport Unit Assistant

Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Passenger Transport Unit Assistant on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their PTU department.

Shift Information:

  • Split shift hours, must be available from 7:30am-11am for the morning shift, and 2:30pm-5pm for afternoon shift, from Monday to Friday.
  • 25 hour week on average.
  • Salary: £12.18/hour.

Main purpose of position:

To assist the Passenger Transport Unit Driver in the picking up and dropping off of vulnerable children and adults in Luton.

As a PTU Assistant, you will be responsible to:

  • Ensure the journey is as smooth as possible for the vulnerable children or adults you are collecting.
  • Ensure the passengers are safe, strapped in, and connected to any apparatus they may require.
  • Lift any apparatus, such as wheelchairs, which requires strength and physical capability.

Skills and Experience:

  • Able to work well as part of a team.
  • Able to lift heavy apparatus.
  • Able to use own initiative when undertaking tasks.
  • Able to deal politely and tactfully with the vulnerable passengers.
  • Able to withstand any difficulty that vulnerable passengers may give.
