The Burford Recruitment Company are delighted to be working with a Private Household client to find an experienced, hardworking, and extremely organised Head Housekeeper for their property in the Cotswolds.

As Head Housekeeper, you will lead a team consisting of two other Housekeepers. Your duties will include:

Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and participating in daily cleaning and organisation
  • Maintaining a minimalist and highly organised home
  • Assisting the principal during stylist visits
  • Helping the House Director with returns and inventory control
  • Serving at dinners and parties
  • Maintaining a high level of discretion and respect for the privacy of the employer and their family
  • Adhering to security protocols to ensure the safety of the residence and its occupants
  • Reporting any maintenance issues, repairs, or required replacements to House Director
  • Communicating with other household staff to ensure a coordinated approach to daily operations
  • Serving, packing, and unpacking luggage
  • Handling laundry services, including washing, ironing, and organising clothes
  • Performing small sewing tasks as needed (this would be an advantage)

Work Schedule:

The family, which currently consists of two adults and one child, are very friendly, but they have a high expectation with regard to cleanliness and organisation.

Flexibility is key. You will need to be adaptable to changing schedules and last-minute requests, as the needs of UHNW individuals can vary, but your general work pattern will be:

  • From 8:00am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Occasional weekend work required from time to time
  • Housekeepers' holidays are required to coincide with the family's holidays (The family travels often, and you will be notified of holiday periods well in advance, allowing you to plan time off).

Experience:

To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role, motivating and leading a team of housekeepers, ensuring high levels of cleanliness and organisation. Previous experience of serving at dinners and parties, and with laundry services would also be beneficial.

You will have a positive attitude, maintaining good working relationships with other household staff, as well as having a gentle personality and a fondness for children and pets.
