Salary/ Package:

  • £45,000 - £50,000 (DOE).
  • Company Pension Scheme.

Working Schedule:

  • Monday - Thursday (8.00am - 5.00pm)
  • Friday (8.00am - 12.00pm)

Our client is a lighting manufacturer, and their products can be found throughout the UK and European markets. The company possesses a rich history within their respective industry sector, and they have been the dominant supplier to public transport manufacturers. Now they're looking into the future with ambitious plans to grow into more international markets and develop new products for the next generation of EV public transport.

Position Overview:

Our client is now seeking a Design Engineer with a strong background in electro-mechanical product development. This is an active hands-on Mechanical design role within a team to design and support of lighting and lighting related products for road and rail transportation developing new concepts and ideas for customer quotations, and internal product development will be an essential part of the job requiring creativity and ingenuity.

Requirements:

  • 3D modelling & 2D detailing using CAD software CREO, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS or other similar.
  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline. 5 years' work experience in Engineering environment.
  • Experience using GD&T and tolerance studies.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems and working with, specifying electrical components.
  • Familiar with DFMEA analysis and documentation.
  • BOM maintenance (Bills of material) on business planning software.
  • Maintenance of Technical documentation and revision control.
  • Plastic Injection Mouldings (component design)
  • Metal brackets and fixture fabrication.
  • Microsoft office tools Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Document control systems and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare concepts and designs for new products.
  • Maintain existing product designs and documentation when changes are required for corrective actions and product improvements.
  • Design products & solutions that will be reliable and meet the required road and rail product standards.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Manager on priorities according to project & product requirements.
  • Review customer standards and implement these in product designs or manufacturing processes.
  • Liaison with test houses to plan and execute required "Type Testing" of products.
  • Follow design processes procedures for review and documentation. Drawing control, DFMEA, design for manual assembly, design for manufacture.
  • Provide technical input to sales and customer enquiries.
  • Provide technical support to quality and production. Problem solving and fault finding.
  • Liaising with Far East design and manufacturing partners.

  • Documentation revision control.
  • Confident following business processes i.e. NPI, Engineering Changes.
