We are working with a local authority in Manchester to find a Unit Catering Manager on a temporary basis.
Location: Newton Heath, Manchester.
Hourly rate: £14.51 per hour

Length of role: Initial 6 months
We are looking for an experienced Catering Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our catering unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing a catering environment, with a focus on maintaining high standards of food service and customer satisfaction.
Day to Day of the role:
- Allocate duties to and supervise/manage unit catering staff.
- Ensure the availability of menu items in accordance with agreed tariffs and maintain high standards of food delivery and service.
- Complete volume-forecasting records, control purchasing of all goods and supplies, and ensure portion control is maintained.
- Liaise with suppliers to check the freshness and quality of food and control stocks.
- Deliver an efficient hospitality service, including tea, coffee, buffets, and working lunches.
- Ensure the safe handling of cash in accordance with policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Level 3 food hygiene certificate (or commitment to obtain this within 6 months of appointment).
- Experience in supervising/managing/training staff in a catering environment.
- Knowledge of personal hygiene, food hygiene, and health and safety procedures.
- Experience in a fast food environment is desirable.
- Skills in training staff in cooking procedures and Health and Safety matters.
- Capability to ensure budgetary control is achieved, including monitoring budgets and maximising income potential.
