Production Engineer

A Production Engineer is needed by a Dudley based manufacturing company to join their growing team

As a Production / Process Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing processes within the production plant. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, optimise, and troubleshoot production processes, ensuring that all operations meet quality standards, performance targets, and safety regulations.

Some of your responsibilities will also include

  • Leading and participating in continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ensuring that production processes meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements, including ISO certifications.
  • Work closely with production teams, maintenance, and quality departments to identify areas for improvement and support implementation. Provide training to operators on new processes and best practices.
  • Develop and implement strategies for cost reduction without compromising quality, through process optimisation, waste reduction, and equipment performance improvement.
  • Collect and analyse production data to generate reports for management, identifying trends, and providing recommendations for performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all aspects of production.
  • Support the launch of new products by ensuring that manufacturing processes are capable of meeting product specifications and volumes.

The successful candidate will ideally have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field and a Six Sigma certification. You will need 3+ years experience as a Production Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the steel or metal processing industries and a strong knowledge of process engineering techniques, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.

Experience with process control systems, automation, and plant equipment in a production setting coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and implement changes is also needed
