We have a vacancy for a temporary Finance Administrator to join our client, a leading Milton Keynes-based education institute, where you will play a vital role in supporting the Finance Business Partners and their specialist teams.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to provide professional financial services to the Finance Business Partners and unit teams. You will cover all financial and management accounting activities within the specialist Business Partner teams. This includes monitoring and reporting on externally funded project budgets, forecasts, providing costings, and ensuring financial compliance with both the University's financial regulations and the terms and conditions of the project funders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update the staff cost forecasting system from various sources and track staff recruitment with resourcing hub contacts.
  • Manage staffing allocations and changes within the HR systems.
  • Set up and close projects on the SAP system, and invoice funders/customers in accordance with contract terms.
  • Establish new Business Partners and request partner payments.
  • Provide advice on financial regulations and procedures.
  • Prepare, check, and process journals.
  • Investigate queries raised by budget holders, interrogating finance systems to trace source documentation.
  • Carry out additional duties as required within the team or in other areas within the division.
  • Ensure system integrity on SAP and other finance systems as required.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • AAT Level 2 qualification or equivalent, with evidence of exam success.
  • Recent, relevant experience working in an accounting environment, ideally within management accounts.
  • Experience in costing, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables and using financial functions).
  • Familiarity with accounting conventions, financial regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills with a good understanding of bookkeeping and double-entry accounting.
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with confidence in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

Desirable

  • Previous experience using SAP or similar financial systems.

Additional Information

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a face-to-face interview and will be asked to complete an Excel test prior to the interview, which will take no longer than 30 minutes.
