Lead Engagement Manager

We are currently working in partnership with a government organisation, who are looking to appoint a Lead Engagement Manager on an 8-month temporary contract.

This will be a full-time position based in Birmingham, with hybrid working (2 days WFH) and a daily rate of up to £650 p/day.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a senior communications role with a focus on stakeholder engagement in a complex political or technical environment

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing and implementing engagement strategies to effectively communicate with key stakeholders, serving as a primary liaison between internal and external partners
  • Crafting and executing communication plans that meet the needs of stakeholders
  • Coordinating and supporting joint initiatives and ensuring consistent messaging and collaboration across different platforms and audiences
  • Working closely with leadership staff to ensure internal messages are aligned with external communications and strategic goals
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes

Experience required:

  • Proven experience in a senior communications role, with a focus on stakeholder engagement in a complex political or technical environment
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans that drive engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences
  • Experience working with or within government, transport, or related sectors is highly desirable

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Proactive and hands-on, with a strategic mindset and the ability to anticipate and respond to emerging issues
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture
  • Familiarity with the structures and functions of local and regional authorities is an advantage
