Indirect Buyer

Early finish Fridays! The position is 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 5.15pm & Friday 8am to 12pm.

Paying up to £40,152 per annum this is a truly autonomous role, in which you will help to develop and improve the way in which the business purchases indirect goods and services as well as negotiate costs and terms and identify cost reduction opportunities.

We are seeking a highly motivated and well-organised Buyer for our client, a professional manufacturer based in Telford.

Key Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for negotiating the lowest total acquisition costs for indirect goods and services
  • To assist department staff in accordance with the company policies and procedures
  • To identify and recommend suppliers for new / existing requirements in order to meet MME's cost reduction targets
  • To monitor commodity market trends in order to provide the base information required to conduct effective strategic supplier negotiations
  • To assist in the drafting of purchasing contracts between the business and new / existing suppliers
  • To control and improve the ordering process for the businesses stores
  • To coordinate and manage effectively the release, progressing and replies to quotations with recommendations and proposals

Skills and Experience

We're looking for an assertive individual, able to work in a team as well as use your own initiative. Ideally, you'll have an MCIPS or other relevant qualification to this field. Experience working in a busy purchasing department within a manufacturing company, experience with MRP systems, negotiating costs and a full UK driving license are essential.

The position is 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 5.15pm & Friday 8am to 12pm.
